Five Community Grants for 2016

In early August Impact 100’s Leadership Team approved a plan to disburse a portion of leftover grant funds to member-nominated non-profits. A total of $25,000 was allocated for five grants of $5,000 to be awarded in early December. Members were asked to nominate a community non-profit organization which would be invited to apply for a grant. Letters of invitation were sent to 36 organizations in early September; they were asked to respond by October 7 with a 1-2 page proposal for utilizing grant funds.

The timeline for the Community Grants process includes these significant milestones:
September 13: Evaluation Training for grant reviewers
October 7: Deadline for grant proposals
Mid-October to mid-November: Review of proposals by grant team
November 15: Top 10 proposal summaries to members for voting
December 7: Five grants will be awarded

Community Grant Work Group leaders Judy Farrell and Shirley Ward are pleased to have received helpful support from our sister organization Impact 100 Sonoma Valley. Eligibility criteria and evaluation worksheets were adapted from materials graciously shared by colleagues experienced in small community grant review. Thank you to the members of Impact 100 Redwood Circle who nominated a variety of non-profit organizations representing the arts, environment, education, human and animal services. Awardees will be invited to a membership meeting in 2017.

Members interested in leading or joining the Community Grants Committee in 2017 would be most welcome.
