Jan Gilman is a third generation Midwesterner, having been (begrudgingly) transplanted from Terre Haute, Indiana to Los Angeles at the start of her senior year in high school. She graduated from Cal with a degree in Sociology/English, and later attended UCLA for a teaching credential, Cal State University Northridge for a Master’s in Ed. Psychology, and The Wright Institute, Berkeley for a Ph.D. in Psychology with a specialty in child and family psychology.
While she had the challenge and excitement of many professional opportunities, she has most enjoyed her time teaching and in private practice, seeing people for a wide variety of issues.
Jan has now been living and working in Santa Rosa for over 40 years, long enough to feel well planted in Sonoma County. She has 2 grown children and 2 grandchildren. Since retiring in 2018, she has been volunteering for Bouverie Preserve and CASA, as well as being an active member in Sonoma County Forum and Impact 100 RC. In her spare time, Jan loves reading, hiking, golfing, and, along with her husband, Michael, traveling to parts unknown.
